🇬🇧 Native English-speaking agency

Pickup insurance is motor cover shaped around a vehicle that lives between two worlds. A Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok or Mitsubishi L200 can be the family car and the work truck in the same week; it can be registered in France as a private vehicle or as a light utility; and it carries an open load bed that an ordinary car policy was never written for. Insuring a pickup properly means getting each of those points right in the contract, not just ticking the box marked car insurance and hoping the differences never matter.

Best French Insurance, the bilingual Generali agency based in Cognac, arranges Pickup insurance for English-speaking drivers across France, including pickups imported from the UK or elsewhere. Our advisors walk you through the French essentials in English, from the category on your carte grise to the cover your load bed actually needs, so the policy you sign matches the way you really use the truck.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions: pickup insurance in France

How much does Family car insurance cost in France? +
It depends on the cars, the drivers and the levels of cover, which is why we quote rather than guess. What we can say is that a household arranged as a whole almost always pays less than the same family insured piecemeal. Quotes are free and without obligation.
Can all our family cars be on one arrangement? +
Each car has its own contract in France, but the contracts can be arranged together, with the same insurer, the right drivers declared on each, and the cover levels set car by car, including cars still going through French registration after an import. We handle the household as a whole.
How do we add our teenager to the insurance? +
By declaring them on the Family car insurance contract, ideally from the accompanied-driving stage, which reduces the new-driver surcharge later. How and where a young driver is introduced changes the cost, and we plan it with you.
Does my spouse need to be named on the contract? +
If they drive the car regularly, yes. French contracts name their drivers, and occasional lending is treated differently from regular use, sometimes with a higher excess. We declare who really drives what.
Can our no-claims history from another country be taken into account? +
Usually, and driver by driver. Ask each previous insurer for a claims history statement and we will see how far each record can carry into the French contracts; for most arriving families it noticeably lowers the starting premium.
What happens when our child moves away with one of the cars? +
The contract follows the change: the car’s main driver, its address and its use are updated, or the car moves to a contract of their own, carrying the record they built on yours. We handle the transition so nothing lapses.
